VIDEO: Dillard Employee Caught Calling Black Family ‘F*****g N***er’

A viral video surfaced last week after a white Dillard’s employee called a Black man the ‘N-Word’ in front of his young son. The incident went down in Dallas, and the father has been praised for how composed he was while handling the situation with the old white employee.

The video picked up just after the racial slur was thrown, the caption explaining, “Today at @dillards in @northparkcenter Mall an older male BY THE NAME OF HOMER, decided today would be the day that he expresses his lifelong #HATE for #BlackPeople. The Black Man (my cousin) in this video (Who spoke so eloquently and respectfully) wanted to try on an item. He asked Homer (white @dillards associate) where’s the fitting room. Homer pointed the man in the direction, and as Homer walked away, he said, ‘Fvcking N***ers.’

The man’s ten-year-old boy and an adult accompanying the child heard him say the racial slur as he walked past.

The father responded in a calm tone, “I want you to know that it’s unacceptable. I want you to know this, and it’s unacceptable. You shouldn’t do that. You’re too old. My family has patronized Dillard’s for many years. I carry myself with honor. I would never disrespect any human being by calling them outside of their name. That’s what you did. You don’t know the impact of what you have done on my son.”

He continued, “You shouldn’t be speaking that way, period. If you know that, why do that, man?”

The Dillard employee then tried to excuse his actions by saying he wasn’t talking to the Black family and that he had hurt his leg.

“I have grace and honor,” the father repeated, “and I was raised with morals and values. But I lost a lot. I lost my mother. I lost my mother-in-law. I lost my sister. All last year. You don’t know what mental state the next human being could be in.” He continued kindly, “It wouldn’t be nobody that can stop me from getting on your ass if I wanted to. You understand me?”

“It doesn’t matter about the age. Treat human beings with respect and morals and values. You understand that? Now I have to go home and correct my 10-year-old not to be a damn idiot. Don’t act a fool. Don’t be like Homer. Homer don’t have respect for my kind or any human being.” He finished.

Dillard’s promptly took to Twitter to assure customers of their swift response. They wrote, “The allegations made against our former employee were promptly investigated, found to be in clear violation of our standards, and his employment with Dillard’s was immediately terminated.”

The post’s comments concluded that Homer said he’d been with Dillard’s for 20 years.

“I’m pretty sure he didn’t just become a racist today & has (more than likely) comfortably expressed his hate for black people before. Unfortunately, a ten-year-old male was exposed to how cruel this world can be towards him BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN, but his father showed him the right way to handle the situation gracefully,” the poster praised.
