VIDEO: Woman Goes Viral After Rejecting Marriage Proposal At McDonalds In South Africa

A woman went viral on social media after turning down a man’s marriage proposal at a McDonalds in South Africa.

In the 45-second clip, the woman was captured placing an order when the man was kneeling on one knee while holding the ring box in his hand. When she turned around and realized the man was proposing, she quickly shook her head and continued to wait for her order at the Sandton branch in Johannesburg.

As the crowd cheered for the couple, the woman exchanged inaudible words with the man and stormed out of the restaurant moments later.

The man stood up, grabbed the food from the counter, and left the establishment.

The proposal went viral on Twitter, amassing more than 3.7 million views, over 66,000 likes, and 11,000 retweets.

“Witnessed such a sad situation today, yoh,” said Twitter user Madame Fossette who uploaded the viral video.

While some users were sympathetic toward the man, others said, “women have all rights to say no to a proposal”.

The social media platform users also criticized the man for proposing in a place such as McDonalds.

One user suggested that the man should have talked with the woman about marriage and proposals before embarrassing himself in public.

“My opinion is to have an informal discussion with a partner to know if they would appreciate a public proposal. I genuinely feel these people getting public embarrassment do not even know where they stand in the relationship but expect the ring to act as a leverage,” the person tweeted.

“They booing this woman and don’t know a god damn thing about they relationship people so weird,” another user tweeted.

“Trying to back someone into a corner is one thing, but doing it in a fast food line is absolutely crazy,” a third person tweeted.

One user said they would have thrown grease on the man for proposing in a fast-food restaurant.

“He proposing at McDonalds… The disrespect. He lucky she walked away cause I would’ve tossed the ring in the fry grease,” the person tweeted.

Our good sis wasn’t feeling old boy or his fast-food proposal. We wish them the best– either way.
