Viral Video Alleges Howard University Students Were “Coughing Up Blood” Due To Mold Exposure

Howard University students continue to voice their outrage at what they believe are horrible and unsafe living conditions on campus. A recent viral TikTok video added even more worries about the potential dangers of living on campus, with a student claiming that some people were “coughing up blood” and had to be taken to a hospital due to harmful mold exposure.

The prestigious and historically Black university is famous for being a pillar of excellence and higher education throughout the community. Still, a video uploaded earlier this week by Chandler Robinson, an incoming freshman and protester, exposes Howard University for not living up to expectations.

“I’m a freshman at Howard University, and I have experienced some of the most challenging things in these two months that I’ve been here,” Robinson revealed in the video, which has over half a million views on TikTok. “I have friends, personally, who are out of a home, their belongings have been damaged to the point where they can no longer use them, or they no longer exist from mold exposure,”

“People who are in the hospital coughing up blood right now because they cannot breathe with what they’ve been exposed to,” they continued

Speaking on other student accommodations not being met, Robinson also added, “I personally didn’t have WiFi for the first month that I was here. And because of that, I am now five weeks behind in all of my classes. But this is not something that I can fix alone. I need anyone who sees this to repost,”

NewsOnyx previously reported that students on campus were protesting against several different conditions at the university and wanted the school to acknowledge their concerns over mold and water leaks, rodents, roaches, and other complaints.

According to UPROXX, members of Gucci Mane’s New 1017 label, including rappers Enchanting and Big Scarr, decided not to perform at Howard University last week to support student protesters. The musicians were reportedly on an HBCU tour that included Jackson State University and Morehouse College but chose to stand in solidarity with students instead of taking the Howard stage.

Protesters at Howard University have been taking action since early last week, setting up tents around the campus and taking over the school’s Blackburn University Center in their efforts to be seen and heard by school officials, Fox 5 reported.

Also, according to the news outlet, the Board of Trustees recently released a statement claiming, “Simply put, we hear you, and we continue to welcome your viewpoints on all matters pertaining to Howard,”
