White Woman Tells a Black Business Woman That Selling Hair Products At a Park Looks Like A Drug Deal

Ronnie Marie Paiva, a Black woman and owner of Marie’s Luxury Hair Extensions, was dropping off an order to a client at a local park in Sacramento, California, when a white woman tells her that she looks like she’s dealing drugs.

Paiva’s client, who happened to be recording the pickup for a TikTok user, was able to capture when the Karen came to “give her a heads up.”

The video shows Paiva approaching the customer, but the woman interrupts and says she’s just giving her a “head’s up” that it looks like she’s doing “a drug deal.”

Paiva explains that she’s a homeowner who pays a mortgage in the area and went to the park to deliver an order.

She told the woman to call the police and that she pays $50,000 in taxes.

When the nosy ass Karen insisted on questioning her about why she chose to sell her products at the park Paiva responded, “Because I can. It’s a public park.”

She even showed the woman the contents inside of her bike basket, to which the woman rebutted with, “the girl on the bike is selling drugs.”

In a statement given to theGrio, Paiva said that she is “grateful for the experience,” adding, “Jesus turned into a moment for His Glory.”

The businesswoman told the outlet that on the day of the incident, she didn’t let the situation get the best of her “because when you know who you are, where you came from, and where you’re headed … you don’t let anymore take you out of your character.”

Of the Karen, Paiva said, “I don’t know if she was a racist or not, but I know she was ignorant and nosey.”

“But I say you ‘kill a Karen’ with success,” she continued. “I don’t want to give her any shine. I’m here to serve my clients, provide an amazing product with excellent customer service. And that’s all I have the time to focus on.”
