Wild, Wild Westchester Mall: Louis Vuitton Employees Grapple With Thieves Who Stole Bags, Burberry Robbed Too

A wild video of brazen thieves being confronted by Louis Vuitton employees as they snatched and grabbed expensive bags last month in White Plains, New York, has circulated online.

On Feb. 5, TikTok user _Young.Sauce uploaded the madcap footage to the social media platform. The video showed two male suspects grabbing multiple high-priced handbags inside the upscale Westchester Mall. One thief made off fairly easy with a couple of bags, but his homie was another story. In the footage, several Louis Vuitton employees pulled up on the other suspect attempting to snatch the goods from him, but he wrestled his way out of their grasp with the bags. He eventually escaped.

A white man in a dark grey uniform appearing to be mall security stood nearby watching the heist. Only after the thieves ran from the store did the man try to contact someone.

Another costly theft took place at the Westchester Mall on a different day and with different assailants. The Burberry store also became the victim of a snatch and grab robbery. Three men wearing Day-Glo safety jackets and carrying the expensive loot were seen hauling a** from the high-end store. They ran down an escalator and appeared to escape before the video ended.

On Feb. 5, White Plains Police Department wrote via Facebook that it was “

aware of recent social media posts and videos regarding thefts at the Westchester Mall and is actively investigating both incidents.”

The department also indicated that what happened at Burberry and Louis Vuitton is a serious matter of safety and is taking measures to protect patrons and businesses– inside and outside the mall.

“We take these incidents and the greater public safety concerns seriously. We continuously work and collaborate with the property management and security as well as individual stores to assist in crime prevention and security inside and outside the Mall.”

The statement continued, “We can assure the public that all the entities at the Westchester Mall strive to provide a safe environment to visit and that these incidents are not indicative of the overall safety provided by site security and law enforcement. We encourage anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact us.”

“Additional background: One of the incidents happened over a month ago – contrary to the post indicating the incident just happened. There were no weapons used and no one was injured in either incident.”

Robberies of high-end stores like Louis Vuitton and Burberry appear to be on the rise. In November, Louis Vuitton stores in Chicago and San Francisco were practically left bare after thieves ransacked and looted the costly goods. The incidents were also caught on camera.
