Woman Found Chained In Abandoned South Side Chicago House

A woman was recently found handcuffed and chained in an abandoned South Side Chicago house.

Chicago police made the shocking discovery on May 21 after local resident Antione Dobine told them he heard a woman screaming from inside the house located on 119th Street and Eggleston.

“She was screaming, ‘Help,’ and I was like, ‘Who is in there with you?’ and I was asking her different questions,” Dobine said. “At that time, that is when I made the 911 call. The police said her legs were chained and her hands were handcuffed.”

During a Facebook Live sharing his story, officers confirmed that they found a 36-year-old woman inside an upstairs bedroom in the run-down home.

Shortly after police found the victim, she was brought to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where she was reported to be in good condition.

The woman told investigators that she was abducted, held at the abandoned house for days, and assaulted. She explained that as she walked to a neighborhood store, she bumped into a man she had previously seen and he allegedly dragged her to the house and attacked her several times.

“We are bringing all of our resources to bear in bringing this offender to justice,” Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said at a news conference.

“We are working with the victim to try and get a better description of the defendant and do our best to, obviously, apprehend him,” Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan said.

Residents in the South Side Chicago area said they saw the victim before and that she’s homeless.

One neighbor who claimed to know her added that the home she was discovered in has been empty for 25 years.

“I feed her and when I see her I give her food and water and stuff, talk to her,” Patricia Parnell told news reporters. “She is a sweet young lady, she is just down on her bad luck right now.”

There hasn’t been any arrests in connection to the incident thus far, but police have been searching for possible surveillance video from a nearby gym.
