This past Sunday morning, a white woman was captured on video yelling racist expletives, including the n-word, at a black male bakery worker after he refused service to her because she refused to wear a mask, according to CBS New York.
The altercation began when the Queens woman took a trip to Manhattan’s Essex Market without wearing a mask to cover her nose and mouth, which most indoor public places require due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The video, recorded by a bystander, shows a blonde white woman holding a stroller with a baby inside. According to CBS New York, the racist woman named Stephanie Denaro also had three other children with her when she approached the bakery clerk named Vic. At the start of the video, a security guard is seen standing near Denaro and the bakery worker, indicating that tension was there prior to the recording.

According to the NY Daily News, Vic simply told the woman, “Ma’am, you may have forgotten to wear your mask. You must wear a mask.” After arguing with the bakery worker about whether he should still serve her sans mask, another person waiting in line says, “You don’t have to serve her if you don’t want to…Ma’am, he’s not going to serve you, so please leave.”
The woman then spews, “Why? Because he’s a b**** a** n****r? Is that why?”
Denaro then made matters worse by doubling down on her racial slur, yelling “That’s what he is! That’s what he is! B**** a** n-word! I just said it, you heard it!”
Vic remained calm and offered zero response to the expletives. Denaro refused to leave until police were called.
A few days following the bigoted rant, social media began to see Denaro’s racist rant and soon, Vic was interviewed by local news to discuss his resolve and patience when dealing with something no black person should have to.
“We’ve been going through this — ya know, racism. We went through COVID all year, last year. We went through George Floyd,” Vic said. “I felt like we was moving forward, honestly…I’m educated enough and smart enough, and I think that we’re in a world where love surpasses hatred.”
