Santia Deck is a self-made female athlete who prides herself on deconstructing society’s oppressive rules. She founded her own sneaker company – the first ever owned by a woman athlete – called TRONUS. Now, the 38-year-old athletic mogul has scored a lucrative deal to mass distribute her line of footwear in-store at multiple Athlete’s Foot stores across America.
In an interview with Just Women’s Sports, Deck once said, “I just want to be the best at whatever I do.”
The company captured the attention of Athlete’s Foot store with its mission and values. TRONUS’ website bolsters its beliefs.
“We believe humanity and community progression begins on the front lines through efforts led by those closest to the obstacles and solutions. We work to build meaningful relationships and partnerships that result in reciprocal listening and learning. We envision that through our business, we can improve lives, build community and trust, and take good care of the places we call home.”
This new deal is the first time the shoe company will have an in-store location where customers can try on shoes before purchasing – an option unavailable at the company’s conception. It’s expected that the company will expand vastly through this new step, able to reach audiences further and offer better and more easily accessible services.
Branded as the ‘Queen of Abs,’ Deck prides herself on building a Black-owned business that strives to better African American representation in the business industry. Seeing a powerful black woman shattering ceilings and expectations does just that and more for women athletes who wear her shoes. She started as a track and field star in grade school before racing to the top of the WFLA game, and then being CEO of her own company, Santia is an icon for young black athletes.
She also signed a multi-million dollar contract with the Women’s Football League Association, one of the largest deals ever made in the history of women’s sports.
The boss football star is proud of her work and shared a moving post on Instagram to celebrate the support she’s received.
