Use Kool-Aid To Dye Your Toilet Water To Detect Leaks, TikToker Jordan Says

Popular TikTok users name Jordan, @jordan_the_stallion8, has done it again; he has provide yet another exciting life hack that has gone viral, but instead of his usual fast food tidbits he gave a quick hack on how to spot if ones toilet is leaking with Kool-aid.

Plumbers use dye to detect leaks and other problems in plumbing systems, and there are two main types of dye used by plumbers, water tracing dye, which is a bright color, such as blue or green, and it is highly visible in water, and fluorescent dye, a dye that is invisible to the naked eye, but it can be seen under ultraviolet light. The TikTok user used

Kool-Aid as a substitute for water tracing dye.

“That putting Kool-Aid in my toilets will save me money,” Jordan said, The Sun reported.

“I literally just learned this not too long ago on the internet because the internet has taught me more than school will ever teach me at this point.

“So basically you guys know how every single toilet has a back compartment?” he questioned. “Well if you were to lift that compartment up and put Kool-Aid into water that’s under that compartment.

“Put the Kool-Aid in that water, all you have to do is wait a couple of hours and then go back to your toilet and lift the toilet seat up.

“If the water is the same color as the Kool-Aid that you put into it, that means that you have a leak in your toilet and that’s why your water bill is so high right now. Get the leak fixed, it will save you that much money,” he concluded.

Plumbers use dye to detect leaks because it is a quick and easy way to find the source of a leak. Dye testing is also non-destructive, which means that it does not damage the plumbing system.
