Walmart Customer Demands Employee Bag Her Groceries In Viral Video

An interaction between a Walmart worker and an employee went viral on TikTok on May 17. The video has almost a million views, reposted by user @kingkongzoe. It features a customer getting upset about the worker not bagging up her groceries and filming her to show that “Walmart has the worst customer service.”

The video opened with the customer repeatedly asking the employee behind the register to bag up the rest of her groceries; the items looked to include a carton of eggs, barbecue sauce, a bottle of dish soap, and several boxes of cereal and noodles. The Walmart employee appeared annoyed and put a few of the customer’s groceries into the plastic bag before returning to the rest of her duties. That only served to make the customer angrier. She snapped,

“The stuff that you put down here needs to be in bags.” The employee then continued to bag the things that she had gestured to already down on the carousel.

The Walmart worker placed a couple of the items in a bag before returning to her register, which did not satisfy the customer. She gestured to more items sitting in the bag carousel.

The woman seemed to find fault in how she obliged her request because she quickly added after the employee put the cereal box in a bag. She told the employee, “You just damaged my cereal. I don’t even want it.”

“Girl, it’s a box,” the Walmart employee responded, but the customer insisted that she didn’t want the allegedly “damaged” cereal. The worker began to take it off of her receipt, but the other woman continued to press her.

“You don’t want to be here today? Because that is not customer service, the way you’re acting. Please put my eggs in a bag too, and don’t break them.

The worker silently completed her request and quickly handed her a receipt.

Users were quick to defend the Walmart worker in the comments, citing their own customer service experiences and similar incidents to suggest that the woman filming may have been at fault, to begin with.

One person commented, “I used to work for Walmart, and I used to always get rude customers. No matter how nice I was to them, I still was treated badly.”

“The customer’s attitude is probably the reason the cashier had an attitude smh,” Another user commented, “I feel like there is more to this video.

Another person acknowledged the fact that the Walmart worker had an attitude, but the customer did too, “That young lady may have had bad customer service or a bad attitude, but that customer was no better! So glad I don’t work with the public anymore!”
